Front and rear bumpers on all models utilize a plastic fascia panel over a metal impact bar. To remove the front bumper, disconnect the electrical connectors at the fog lights and cornering lights if equipped, then remove the radiator grille. For Chevrolet and GMC models, take out the bolts and plastic pushpins securing the fascia panel to the headlamp panel, accessible from both above and below. Next, working beneath the vehicle, detach the fascia from the support rods by removing the pushpins. For Oldsmobile or Buick models, remove the bolts securing the top of the fascia panel to the headlamp panel, then again remove the pushpins from the support rods and the four pushpins securing the lower edge of the fascia to the air dam. For all models, free the clip on each end of the fascia from the peg on the body and pull the fascia forward off the body. Unbolt the fascia support rods from the bumper impact bar, and with assistance, unbolt the impact bar from the frame and take it off, ensuring to disconnect any wiring harnesses or components that may interfere with bumper removal. Installation follows the reverse order, tightening the retaining bolts to the specified torque. For the rear bumper, disconnect the back-up lights and remove the pushpins from the underside of the fascia panel, followed by the screws securing each end of the fascia panel to the wheel well. Unscrew the bolts along the upper edge of the fascia and lift it off. If the impact bar is to be removed, take out the spare tire carrier, free the wiring harness from the trailer connector receptacle, twist the receptacle counterclockwise, and remove it from the body. Remove two impact bar retaining bolts from each side, and with assistance, remove the remaining bolt from each side to take off the impact bar. Installation is again the reverse of removal, ensuring to tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
