    Q:
How do you remove the front and rear bumper covers on Cadillac CTS? Posted by Customer
    A:
If you are working on 2007 and earlier model you need to first pull up the radiator support trim panel with care to get the front bumper cover off. Lose the front wheel lug nuts, lift the car and sustain it on jack stands, and then detach the front wheels and the splash guard. If fitted, remove the electrical connectors from the fog lamps and then unbolt the inner fender splash shields which are attached to the bumper cover. Subsequently, remove the push-pin retainers along the top of the bumper cover and the lower bolts that clamps the upper back corners of the bumper cover to the fender. The last inspection should be made with the help of a flashlight to make sure that the bumper cover is fully removed, all the electrical connectors are disconnected and all the wiring harnesses are tucked well out of the way. With the aid of tools, the front bumper cover must be taken off, and putting it back is just the opposite of the process above. For 2008 and later models pop the clips and take the engine compartment trim panel weather strip and then take out the radiator support trim panel screws, come to the wheels and loosen wheels fastener bolts, lift the car and place it on the jackstands and then disconnect the wheels. Plainly, the bolts fastening the inner fender splash shields to the bumper cover, the wires connecting the lamps if used, and the retention screws of the bumper cover air deflector plastic must be separated and the air deflector unclipped and ejected. Next, unbolt lower and upper area bumper cover screws and release the upper rear clips that connect the bumper to the fender. After this mount a general observation using a flashlight. Assistance to the removal of the front bumper cover and installation is in the similar fashion to the removal process. In the process of removing the rear bumper cover, the rear wheel lug nuts must be loosened, the vehicle raised and properly supporting on jackstands before the rear wheels are removed. For the '07 and earlier models, it is necessary to remove the pin-type retainers at the rear part of the wheel well splash shield so that you can reach the rear bumper cover screws, drill or cut the three push-type retainers from the underside center of the bumper cover, open the trunk to release the rear sill panel fasteners as well as the sill panel, followed fastening of the four rear nuts from inside the trunk as well as Turn on a flashlight to inspect if the bumper cover is disengaged before, with the help of a second person, you pull off the rear bumper cover, same as you install it. On vehicles built after the year 2008, the wheel well splash shield can be removed to take out the screws which attach the rear bumper cover, the screw on the upper rear corner of the bumper cover, as well as the pin type fasteners on the underside of the rear bumper. Lift the rear fog light electrical connector and the tire pressure indicator receiver, then pop-out the taillight housings. With a flashlight make a final inspection to make sure the bumper cover is fully unscrewed and with the help of one other person, the rear bumper cover can be removed, while installation is done in similar manner as removal.
