To remove the check strap from either side door, disengage the check strap from the side door and remove the check strap mounting bolts and the check strap. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring to tighten the check strap bolts securely. Finally, to remove the front side door latch, remove the rear side door trim panel if equipped, remove the latch mounting bolts, adjust the latch as necessary, disconnect the lock rod from the latch, and remove the latch assembly from the door. Installation is the reverse of removal, making sure to tighten the latch bolts securely. Similarly, to remove the front side door latch striker, remove the striker mounting bolts and the striker.
