Q:
How do you remove the Oil Cooler? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the 1.4L engine, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal and draining the cooling system. Then, raise the vehicle and remove the catalytic converter and air filter housing outlet duct. Disconnect the turbocharger oil feed pipe, coolant return pipe, and coolant inlet pipe. Disconnect the oil cooler outlet hose from the thermostat housing and the oil pressure switch electrical connector. Remove the inlet and outlet hoses from the oil cooler and remove the remaining mounting bolts to take out the oil cooler. For the 1.8L engine, follow similar steps, including disconnecting the negative battery cable and draining the cooling system. Remove the exhaust manifold and the oil cooler inlet and outlet pipe bolts. Disconnect the coolant hoses at the top of the engine oil cooler and remove the oil cooler assembly. Separate the oil cooler from the housing and remove the oil cooler gasket. To install, clean the area around the engine block and install the engine oil cooler with new O-rings and a new gasket for the 1.4L engine. For the 1.8L engine, install a new gasket and secure the oil cooler to the housing. Connect the coolant hoses and complete the installation in reverse order. Reconnect the battery, change the engine oil and filter, refill the cooling system, run the engine, and check for leaks.
