Q:
How do I remove and install an ignition coil pack? Posted by Customer
A:
Make sure the ignition key is turned Off, then remove the engine cover by pulling it straight up. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil assembly by sliding the connector lock out and then depress the tab to release the connector. Remove the ignition coil pack mounting bolts. Pull the ignition coil pack straight up, detaching the spark plug boots. If you're replacing the ignition coil pack, remove the four boots from the coil pack and inspect them for cracks, tears and deterioration. If any of the boots are damaged, replace them. Before installing the boots on the ignition coil pack, coat the interior of each boot with silicone dielectric compound. Installation is otherwise the reverse of removal. Tighten the ignition coil pack mounting bolts. For 2016 and later models, remove the oil filler cap and engine cover fasteners. Lift the engine cover and valve cover insulator up and off of the valve cover, then reinstall the oil filler cap. It may be necessary to remove the cover and insulator separately. Disconnect the electrical connector(s) from the ignition coil(s). Remove the ignition coil mounting fastener from the coil. Grasp the coil firmly and pull it off the spark plug. Repeat the same procedure for the remaining coils. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the coil mounting bolt(s).
