    Q:
How do you remove the transfer case on Chevrolet Blazer? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before removing the transfer case, it is important to unplug the negative terminal cable and if there is lockout feature of the Delco Loe II anti-theft audio system despite its rarity, it needs to be off. If your model has a manually shifted transfer case, then engage the 4-High mode, then safely get the car off the ground with jackstands. If so equipped, refer to the service manual to remove skid plate and drain the Transfer case lubricant. Subsequently, the front and rear driveshafts should be pulled out, and all vacuum and vent hoses disconned, as well as all electrical connectors. For the manually shifted models of the 1994 to 1996 vintage, the shift cable must be disconnected from the transfer case. Take off every support brace and drop the transmission with the aid of a jack or jack stand while the transfer case is out. Support the transfer case on a jack if available or get one that is especially made for this job as well as safety chains for support. It is also important to note the position of the shift cable bracket if there is any of them. Out these, remove the transmission-to-transfer case bolts for manual transmissions, or the adapter-to-transfer case bolts for automatic transmissions but do so carefully to avoid to lose the washers. Ensure that all the wires and hoses are disconnected then slide the transfer case and the jack backwards until this part is out of the transmission view and ensure that the transfer case is leveled. After this insert has been removed from the input shaft, it is safe to lower the transfer and eliminate it under the car. To install it, reverse the removal process paying much attention to the Bolts connecting the transmission to the transfer case should be tightened to the recommended torque.
