How do you remove the steering gear boot on Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the rack and pinion boot, start by loosening the lug nuts and raising the vehicle securely on jack stands. Remove the wheel and then proceed to remove the tie-rod end and jam nut. Next, remove the rack and pinion boot clamps and slide off the boot. Apply grease from the supplied grease packet to the tie-rod and the inner end of the inside of the boot. To install the new boot, slide it into position on the rack and pinion until it seats in the groove on the housing and the groove in the steering rod. Install the clamps securely. Remove the tape and proceed to install the tie-rod end. Finally, install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
