    Q:
How Do I Remove and Install Wiper Arms,Washer Pump and Windshield Wiper on Buick Century? Posted by Customer
    A:
Removal of the wiper arms requires the use of a special tool, G.M. J-8966 or equivalent, which is generally available in auto parts stores. Insert the tool or a screwdriver under the wiper arm and pry the arm off the shaft, being careful not to scratch the paint. Disconnect the Washer Pump hose from the arm (if so equipped) and remove the arm. To install, position the arm over the shaft and press down, making sure to install the arms in the same position on the windshield as they were when they were removed. Raising the hood on most later models will facilitate easier wiper arm removal.

    Q:
What are the recommendations for maintaining and replacing Windshield Wiper on Buick Century? Posted by Customer
    A:
Intense heat from the sun, snow and ice, road oils and windshield washer solvents can cause rubber wiper refills to deteriorate. It is recommended to replace the refills twice a year or when streaking or chattering occurs. To maintain effectiveness and prolong element life, keep the windshield and wiper blades clean by washing with a glass cleaner and wiping the rubber blades. Avoid moving the wipers by hand to prevent damage. To inspect or replace the wiper blade elements, place the wiper switch in LOW speed and the ignition switch in ACC position. When the blades are vertical, turn the ignition switch OFF. Cracked, broken, or torn elements should be replaced immediately. Replacement intervals vary, but ozone deterioration limits element life to about one year. If the wiper pattern is smeared, streaked, or chattering, replace the elements in pairs. Aftermarket blades may require different types of refills. Anco® refills have a release button, Trico® refills can be removed by pressing down on the metal backing strip, and other Trico® refills have two metal tabs that need to be squeezed together. Polycarbonate refills have a locking device, and Tridon® refills require removing the wiper blade by twisting counterclockwise. Follow the manufacturer's instructions closely and ensure all frame jaws are engaged to avoid scratching the glass during wiper operation.

    Q:
How do you remove and install the wiper arm/blade assembly on Chevrolet Caprice? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the wiper arm/blade assembly, pull it away from the windshield glass against the tension of the wiper arm spring. Next, depress the small tab located just below the wiper arm at the blade connector socket and pull the blade from the arm. In some models, a coil spring blade retainer is used; to remove the blade in this case, insert a screwdriver on top of the spring and push downwards. For installation, reverse the removal process, ensuring that the connector is fully pushed onto the arm so that the small locating 'pip' is secure in the hole in the connector.

    Q:
What are the methods for replacing the rubber wiper blade element in a blade assembly on Chevrolet El Camino? Posted by Customer
    A:
Two methods are employed for fixing the rubber wiper blade element to the blade assembly, so when the wiper blade has to be replaced these do not have to be disassembled. One of them uses a press-type button, often red in color; the mechanism works by pushing the button to release the rubber element of the wiper blade ; the installation of a new piece involves pressing the button and then sliding the new piece until it clicks, meaning it is locked in place. The other method has a spring-type retainer clip at the end of the removable element; to remove the element, pinch the retainer, and a pair of pliers can be used to pinch the retainer. While installing a new element, the metal insert should be inserted into all the tabs of the blade assembly as can be seen in fig.
