To remove the components, first disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then remove the transmission and the clutch housing. Next, take out the clutch fork from the ball stud and remove the bearing from the fork. For inspection, hold the center of the bearing and rotate the outer portion while applying pressure; if it doesn't turn smoothly or is noisy, replace it with a new one, as it is typically replaced when removed due to accessibility issues. Wipe the bearing clean and check for damage, wear, and cracks, avoiding immersion in solvent since it is sealed for life. For installation, lightly lubricate the clutch fork crown and spring retention crown with high-temperature grease, filling the inner groove of the bearing with the same grease. Attach the release bearing to the clutch fork ensuring both fork tabs fit into the bearing recess, then lubricate the clutch fork ball socket with high-temperature grease and push the fork onto the ball stud until firmly seated. Apply a light coat of high-temperature grease to the face of the release bearing where it contacts the pressure plate diaphragm fingers. Install the clutch housing and tighten the bolts to the specified torque, then apply a light coat of grease to the transmission front bearing retainer before completing the installation by reversing the removal procedure and tightening all bolts to the specified torque.
