    Q:
How to remove and install rocker arms and rocker arm shaft assembly? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, remove the rocker arm covers, then the rocker arm shaft assembly bolts and finally the rocker arm shaft assembly. The nylon arm retainers have to be removed in order to get the rocker arms off the shaft. With a pair of pliers, this can be done or they can be broken by hitting them below their head with a chisel. After that, take out the rocker arms from the shaft making sure they are put in order. Each rock arm also has an external rib which points away from between each pair of rocker arms up to the one at each end closest to its respective bolt on the opposite side of a valve cover. If you are installing new rocker arms, be aware that replacement units would have R or L on them indicating right or left side installation only and they cannot be interchanged. Fit on oil-lubed shaft then install it back onto both ends and tighten nuts to 25 ft lbs (32 Nm). In case you should decide on installing new retainer using hammer and drift 1/2 inch diameter or bigger.
