To remove the steering wheel, park the vehicle with the wheels straight and disconnect the negative battery cable, then disable the airbag system. Use a screwdriver to release the spring clips securing the airbag module to the steering wheel by prying them aside, and disconnect the yellow electrical connector from the module, setting it aside with the airbag side facing up. Center the steering wheel, remove the retaining nut, and mark the position of the steering wheel to the shaft if necessary. Loosen the nut two full turns, then pull and rock the steering wheel to remove it by hand, or use a puller if needed. For installation, ensure the airbag clockspring is centered; if it was removed or misaligned, follow the centering procedure. If the clockspring has a window, turn the hub clockwise until it stops, then counterclockwise until the window turns yellow and the arrows align. If it lacks a window, depress the spring lock and rotate the hub as indicated until it stops, then turn it 2-1/2 turns in the opposite direction. Reinstall the clockspring with screws, secure the wiring harness, and install the steering column covers. Align the steering wheel with the marks, tighten the retaining nut, connect the airbag module's electrical connector, and position the module on the steering wheel until it engages with the spring clips.
