To remove the front wheel, start by loosening the lug nuts and raising the vehicle on jack-stands. Remove the shock absorber, stabilizer bar link bolt, and disconnect the outer tie-rod end from the steering knuckle. Use a suitable internal type spring compressor to compress the spring enough to relieve pressure from the spring seats. Support the lower control arm with a floor jack and remove the control arm pivot bolts and nuts. Pull the lower control arm down and to the rear, guiding the compressed coil spring out. If the coil spring is being replaced, carefully unscrew the spring compressor. To install the new coil spring, inspect the upper and lower spring insulators and replace if necessary. Position the spring on the lower control arm with the flat end facing up and the tapered end facing down. Make sure the tapered end seats on the lower control arm with the lower end of the spring seated in the lowest part of the spring seat. Raise the lower control arm into position in the frame and install the control arm pivot bolts and nuts. Remove the spring compressor and reattach the outer tie-rod end and stabilizer bar link. Install the shock absorber and raise the lower control arm to simulate normal ride height using a floor jack. Finally, install the wheel, remove the jackstands, and lower the vehicle.
