Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery before performing any operations, and if the model has an anti-theft audio system, disable the feature prior to disconnecting the battery. For the radio, remove the instrument panel lower extension, and for 1995 and earlier models, take out the accessory trim panel. For 1996 and later models, remove the driver's side knee bolster and the instrument panel cluster trim plate. On 1995 and earlier models, unscrew the radio mounting bolts and withdraw the radio from the dash, while on 1996 and later models, depress the retaining clips on each side of the radio unit to pull it out. Disconnect the antenna lead and wiring harness connectors from the rear of the radio. For the remote cassette player in 1996 and later models, pry off the instrument panel lower extension trim plate, depress the retaining clips, and disconnect the wiring harness before removal. For dashboard speakers, pry off the speaker grille, remove the mounting screws, and disconnect the speaker wires. In the front door for lower speakers, remove the door trim panel, unscrew the speaker mounting screws, and disconnect the speaker wires. For upper speakers, pry out the trim caps, remove the bolts from the pull handle and accessory switch mount plate, detach the accessory switch mount plate, and disconnect the speaker wires before removing the speaker. For rear door speakers, remove the speaker grille and door trim panel, unscrew the mounting screws, and disconnect the speaker wires, noting that some models may have rivets that need to be drilled out. For pillar speakers, pry off the speaker grille, remove the mounting screws, disconnect the speaker wires, and remove the speaker. Installation is the reverse of removal for all components.
