    Q:
How to remove the steering intermediate shaft? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the steering shaft, start by turning the front wheels to the straight-ahead locked position. On 1996 and later models, unbolt the underhood electrical center and set it aside. Then, unbolt the steering shaft boot from the cowl. Use white paint to mark the upper universal joint, steering shaft, lower universal joint, and steering gear input shaft. On later models, you may need to slide the boot over the universal joint to expose the joint and shaft. Remove the upper and lower universal joint pinch bolts. On earlier models, remove the steering gear-to-frame mounting bolts and lower the steering gear to allow for steering shaft removal. Pry the steering shaft off the steering shaft with a large screwdriver and then pull the shaft from the steering gearbox in the same manner. To install, follow the reverse of the removal procedure, ensuring that the alignment marks are aligned and the pinch bolts are tightened to the specified torque.
