    Q:
What is the recommendation for replacing the TP sensor on Chevrolet Corvette? Posted by Customer
    A:
For 2007 and prior models, the TP sensor is built into the electronic throttle body and cannot be repaired separately. To change a TP sensor, change out an entire throttle body. In 2008 and newer models, you can replace the TP sensor/cover, but this should not be done. If there is a problem with intermediate gear chip, loose TP terminal connector or drop/misalignment of throttle body or TP sensor, then the throttle body assembly must be replaced.

    Q:
What is the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and how does it work for Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
The TPS is a potentiometer linked to the end of the throttle shaft in the throttle body. The PCM uses this TPS output voltage to determine fuel delivery versus throttle valve angle. The Throttle Actuator Control system (TAC) works with the TPS and APP sensors. They actually are two sensors located in one housing. Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are set when there is a disparity between the actual throttle position and that which is sensed by the TPS unit. It is necessary to replace a whole throttle body when its TPS acts up.

    Q:
How to remove and install a TP sensor on a throttle body for Chevrolet Express? Posted by Customer
    A:
To disconnect the cable, remove it from the negative battery terminal. You can easily remove the engine cover.Get rid of that air intake duct.Remove the electrical connector from the TP sensor. After removing the TP sensor mounting screws, take off the TP sensor from the throttle body. When installing the TP sensor on to the throttle body, make sure that as a flat surface on inside of TP sensor rotating ring is align with this flat surface on shaft. The sensor will be correctly installed if it fits flush against throttle body and in case it doesn't fit flush against ignition system, then you have not aligned properly locating flats on inside of rotating ring and end of throttle shaft; slide off, realign them and reinstall it once more time.Conversely; after tightening up your TP sensor mounting screws firmly, reverse removal.Take out that air intake duct. Moreover, unplug electric connecting device from TP sensor. Also make sure you do away with all those nuts that hold down an old TP sensor. When installing the TP sensor on to the throttle body, align so that flat surface on inside of rotating ring for instance in TP's inside has been aligned with flat surface situated at throat shaft level as well as ensure that if it is flush with carburetor then you have installed correct sensing device while if not then inner finding flats provided by circular grove have not matched with end of fuel governor shaft and therefore separate these two by pulling out complete mechanism for looped alignment prior to reinstallation; correct placement requires similar procedures hereafter before you tighten everything back again clockwise at original position as above but now remember to take into account also screws securing TPS in place which only should be tightened adequately by your hands' pressure initially regardless of any use such tools or apply too much force since they are relatively weak screws.Otherwise, you begin by installing it backward from how it was removed. Don't forget to firmly secure the TP sensor mounting screws.

    Q:
What is the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and how does it work on Chevrolet Trailblazer? Posted by Customer
    A:
The TPS is a variable potentiometer that is mounted on the end of the throttle shaft in the throttle body. Based on the TPS output voltage, fuel delivery can be decided by the PCM in relation to the throttle valve angle. The Throttle Actuator Control system (TAC) and Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor are what the TPS works with. There are two sensors in one housing which make up the latter. Codes are set when there is a difference between actual position of throttle and position as sensed by TPS. The Throttle Position Sensor must be replaced as part of the throttle body unit.
