If on inspection, the flexible mounts have become hard or are split or separated from their metal backing, they must be replaced, which can be done with the engine/transmission still in the vehicle. For front mounts, first remove the through-bolt and nut, then raise the engine slightly using a hoist and remove the mount and frame bracket assembly from the cross member. Next, install the new mount, reinstall the through-bolt and nut, and tighten all the bolts to the specified torque. For the rear mount, begin by removing the cross member to mount bolts and then raise the transmission slightly. After that, remove the mount to transmission bolts and then the mount itself. Install the new mount, lower the transmission, and align the cross member to mount bolts before tightening all the bolts to the specified torque.

Drive a large screwdriver or a prybar between the cross member and the transmission extension housing and twist it upwards without worrying about spreading of the transmission away from the insulator. To remove the insulator, first undo the nuts that holds it on the cross member and the bolts holding it on the transmission. Lift the transmission slightly up with jack and pull the insulator, make sure the mark of the hole in the cross member is noted so that its placed in the correct position when assembling. Reinstallation is done in the reverse of the removal process.
