To get at the exhaust manifold you need to unplug the clamp that leads to the negative terminal of the battery, and then lift and sustain the car using jack stands. Administer penetrating oil on the exhaust pipe to manifold studs and nuts, and remove the oxygen sensor's electrical connector. Unbolt the nuts or bolts securing the exhaust pipe or the catalytic converter to the manifold, then un-bolt the engine cover. Remove ignition coils, spark plug wire, spark plug if working on this particular side only, if both manifolds are to be removed do it for all. For the manifold of the right side, take off the secondary air injection pipe and the oil dipstick, unbolt the bracket that supports the dipstick tube and plunge out the tube. When using left-side manifold, delete the alternator as well as secondary air injection pipe. Secondly, unbolt the mounting bolts and detach the exhaust manifold from Cylinder Head, finally, unbolt the heat shields. Before you fit the manifold ensure that it has no crack on the surface and the threads of the bolt are smooth and in good condition also, guarantee the surface of the manifold is clean. Bolt and put the gaskets and the heat shields into the manifold to be held together with the help of the tabs of the retaining bolts. Place a generous amount of medium-strength thread locking compound on the threads of the bolts with exclusion of the first three threads. Position the manifold to the cylinder head and fitted the mounting bolts loosely then run up to the torque setting for the cylinder head and then tighten from the center outwards using torque wrench in two passes. If required, flatten the free end of the exhaust manifold gasket against the surface of the cylinder head. Last but not the least, the rest of the installation revolve around the reverse of the removal steps and when done crank the engine and check for exhaust leak.
