    Q:
How do you remove and install the Steering Knuckle on Chevrolet Tracker? Posted by Customer
    A:
To take of the wheel, the lug nuts must be unscrewed, and the vehicle has to be lifted from the ground and adequately supported by jack stands before having the wheel removed. If the model is fitted with ABS, pull off the speed sensor and its wiring harness; remove the brake caliper and suspend it with wire. Place the lower suspension arm on a lift and secure it with a floor jack and then remove brake disc and front hub assembly. On 4WD models, first, you have to take off the driveaxle snap-ring and washer, then - the brake dust cover. Again, use the soft face hammer to tap the wheel spindle off, in order to remove the strut/shock absorber-to-steering knuckle bolts or nuts. This shall mean detaching the tie-rod from the steering knuckle arm and the balljoint from the steering knuckle. The steering knuckle assembly must be taken off from the strut or shock, ball joint and drive axle; may be requires hammer to loosen it up. In case the 4WD driveaxle is lodged in the hub splines, pull it out with a puller tool but should support the end using wire so as not to harm the inner CV joint. During installation, slide the knuckle assembly in the right position, placing the driveaxle in the desired location in the hub, afterward push the knuckle into the shock flange and secure it by placing the bolts but do not tighten it. Place the balljoint stud into the steered knuckle hole and then fit the nut and as with the previous joints, do not tighten it at this stage. Screw the tie-rod to the steering knuckle arm then torque the strut bolt nuts, balljoint nut and tie-rod nut to their required torques. Having installed the wheel spindle on the steering knuckle secure it using an Acetone silicone sealant and lubricant Incline the brake dust cover and fasten properly. Subsequently fit the front hub assembly as well as the brake disc, snap ring of 4WD driveaxle, washer and finally the caliper. Jack up the vehicle and take of the floor jack supporting the suspension arm, fit the wheel back and screw on the lugs nuts, lower the car, and finally, torque the lugs nuts to the correct value.
