This process is quite elaborate and many tools are needed and because of this there is need to have all the required tools before starting and these include new camshaft sprocket bolts. Start the process by removing the negative battery terminal and then undertaking the valve cover removal exercise. During installation, lubricate the rocker arms and lash adjusters before reinstalling them in their earlier positions and lubricate the camshafts and install them. Replace camshaft bearing caps and tighten it in a preset manner and replace camshaft actuator and timing chain. If there is no start, turn the engine with the starter to look for some resistance. Lubricate and install lifters and Camshafts for the 1.8 L for the engine and it is important to take note of the orientation of the Camshafts. Set the camshaft bearing caps with sealant, fit new camshaft oil seal and use a tool to synchronise the camshafts. Lastly, reverse the process, and connect the battery in the unit final stage of installation.
