    Q:
How do you remove the Trailing Arm? Posted by Customer
    A:
Firstly, one needs to loosen the rear wheel lug nuts, lift the vehicle's rear and then support it using jack stands so as to be able to remove the trailing arms. On this case, first one should take off the tire and then mark where the inner bolt heads or cam adjusters will align with the sub frame before removing any bolts. After that remove pivot bolts inner and outer then take out your arm trailing. Then replace all of them inside-out after noting that holes for each bolt have faces turned towards their heads. Again aligning bolt heads or adjuster cams that had been marked earlier on. Next, before tightening mounting bolts, raise outer end of lower control arm with floor jack to simulate normal ride height and finally tighten bolts to specified torque. The wheel alignment should be checked and adjusted accordingly when necessary. However in order to remove trailing arms you need to start by loosening rear wheel lug nuts, raising rear of vehicle and supporting it securely on jack stands. This is followed by removal of rear wheel and then three mounting bolts from trailing arm body bracket.Unscrew parking brake cable from trailing arm next lift off the three bolts securing the arm onto knuckle if any before lifting off.Remove through bolt if necessary separate bracket from trailing arm.For installation ensure all mounting bolts are finger tight before tightening any of them.Tighten down fasteners properly.Specify torque while considering having you're your wheels rechecked.Always begin by unbolt a downward leading control arm straight from its body which shows us its cam adjuster position. It's important to disconnect ABS wiring from upper control arm together with unscrewing through bowl through both ends of upper control arm pivot prior picking out an arm. Then loosely install a bolt at each end first.Aligning marks afterwords raises bottommost control arms until normal riding heights are achieved followed by a final tightening The rest is just reverse of what was done for removal thus check for alignment and maybe correct it if necessary.Getting off the lower control arm involves disconnection of its stabilizer link followed by unbolting trailing arm bracket from body.On outer end of the control arm, place a floor jack, lift it slightly then remove shock absorber bottom mounting bolt and bumper mounting nut located at center of spring's base.Remove lower control arm inboard pivot bolt and then gently lower arm allowing coil spring decompress until outer bolt comes out. Then take away spring including its lower bumper after that lift out inner bolt so as to get rid of an entire control arm. Finally, reverse removal process while ensuring that the lower control arm is raised to simulate normal ride height so that fasteners can be tightened as specified.Talk about wheel alignment following installation.
