    Q:
How do you remove rear coil springs on Chevrolet Avalanche,Silverado,Suburban,Tahoe,GMC Sierra,Yukon,Yukon Denali and Yukon XL? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the rear coil springs on a vehicle, first loosen the rear wheel lug nuts and raise the rear of the vehicle on jackstands. If the vehicle is equipped with Autoride, unbolt the height sensor linkage from the bracket on the trailing arm. Support the rear axle housing with a floor jack and detach the rear axle vent hose.Unbolt the track bar from the bracket on the rear axle housing and disconnect the lower ends of the shock absorbers from the axle housing. Slowly lower the floor jack to extend the coil springs, being careful not to exceed the slack in the flexible brake lines or wire harnesses. Once the coil springs are fully extended, remove them and check the condition of the insulators. To install the new coil springs, place them and the insulators in position on the axle and raise the axle until the ends of the springs engage properly with their upper mounts. Continue to raise the axle until the shock absorbers can be connected to the axle housing and install the bolts and nuts, tightening them to the torque specifications. Connect the track bar to the axle, reattach the vent hose, and reconnect the brake hoses and wire harnesses if necessary. If equipped with Autoride, reattach the height sensor linkage. Finally, install the wheels and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the torque specifications.
