This procedure applies to 2008 and later 3.6L (except VIN 7) and all 3.0L V6 engines. Remove the engine covers and the suspension crossbrace. Relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the cowl panel and the wiper motor and linkage. Remove the high-pressure fuel pump line shield fasteners and shield. If necessary for additional working space, remove the intake manifold and both fuel rails. Disconnect the low-pressure feed line to the pump. Using a flare-nut wrench, unscrew the high-pressure line fittings. Disconnect the electrical connector from the high-pressure fuel pump. Remove the high-pressure fuel pump bolts and remove the pump. Always replace the bolts and O-ring. With the pump removed, rotate the engine by hand and make sure the camshaft lobe is at its base circle before trying to install the pump. Lubricate the pump roller with engine oil and install the gasket and bolts. Set the pump into the cylinder head and tighten the bolts evenly. As the pump bolts are tightened, it will get harder to tighten the bolts until the spring in the pump is compressed. Tighten the bolts. The remainder of the installation is the reverse of removal. Clean the high-pressure fuel line fittings on the fuel rails, then apply a little clean engine oil to the threads. Install the new high-pressure fuel line, tightening the fittings. Reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal, then start the engine and check for fuel leaks.

Before removing the fuel pump module, it is important to relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
