- A:To remove the wheel seal, start by raising the rear of the vehicle and supporting it securely on jackstands. Place the transaxle in Neutral and block the front wheels to prevent rolling. If working on the right rear wheel, remove the muffler assembly. Then, remove the wheel(s) carefully. Next, use a seal removal tool or a large screwdriver to pry out the wheel seal, being cautious not to damage the seal bore. For installation, use a seal installer or a large deep socket as a drift to drive the new wheel seal into the bore squarely and ensure it is completely seated. Lubricate the lip of the new seal with multi-purpose grease and then install the wheel, taking care not to damage the seal's lip.
