How to remove and install an oil pump on 4.3L V6 engine on Chevrolet Avalanche? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the oil pan. While supporting the oil pump, remove the pump-to-rear main bearing cap bolt. Lower the pump and remove it along with the pump driveshaft. If a new oil pump is installed, make sure the pump driveshaft is mated with the shaft inside the pump and a new driveshaft retainer is used. Position the pump over the dowel pins on the rear main cap and make sure the slot in the upper end of the driveshaft is aligned with the tang on the lower end of the oil pump driveshaft. The oil pump driveshaft drives the oil pump, so it is absolutely essential that the components mate properly. Also, note that no gasket is used between the oil pump and the rear main cap. Install the mounting bolt and tighten it to the torque specifications. Install the oil pan and refill the engine with fresh oil. The remainder of assembly is the reverse of the disassembly procedures.

How to remove and install an oil pump on V8 engine on Chevrolet Avalanche? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the timing chain cover and oil pan. Remove the oil pump pick-up tube mounting nuts and bolts and lower the pick-up tube and screen assembly from the vehicle. Remove the oil pump retaining bolts and slide the pump off the end of the crankshaft. Remove the oil pump cover and withdraw the rotors from the pump body. Clean the components with solvent, dry them thoroughly, and inspect for any obvious damage. Also, check the bolt holes for damaged threads and the splined surfaces on the crank-shaft sprocket for any apparent damage. If any of the components are scored, scratched, or worn, replace the entire oil pump assembly. There are no serviceable parts currently available. Prime the pump by pouring clean engine oil into the pick-up tube hole, while turning the pump by hand. Position the oil pump over the end of the crankshaft and align the teeth on the crankshaft sprocket with the teeth on the oil pump drive gear. Making sure the pump is fully seated against the block. Install the oil pump mounting bolts and tighten them to the proper torque specifications. Install a new O-ring on the oil pump pick-up tube, then fasten it to the oil pump and the engine block main studs. Install and align the timing chain cover, then install the oil pan. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal. Add oil and coolant as necessary. Run the engine and check for oil and coolant leaks. Also, check the oil pressure.

    Q:
How do you remove and install an oil pump in V8 engine on Chevrolet Colorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
Firstly, the oil pan and the timing chain cover must be unscrewed followed by dismantling the mounting nuts and bolts of the oil pump pick-up tube, and then the pick-up tube assembly has to be lowered from the vehicle, the last step being the probable unscrewing of a bolt fixed on the pick-up tube to the oil pump. Third, remove the oil pump retaining bolts and slid the pump off the crankshaft. To inspect, it is necessary to remove the oil pump cover and take out the rotors from the pump body; wash them with solvent and dry up the parts diligently inspecting the rotors, pump body in addition to bolt holes and splined surface on the crankshaft sprocket. If any of this part has a signs of scoring, scratching, or wearing, replace the oil pump assembly. While installing this product, just before you leave the site, pour some clean engine oil to the pick-up tube hole and fan the pump manually. Locate the oil pump over the crankshaft, and have the teeth of the crankshaft sprocket engage those on the oil pump pin in a manner that the pump sits right against the block. Tighten the oil pump mounting bolts to the specified torque, place new 'O'-ring on the oil pick-up tube and fasten the tube to the oil pump and the engine block main studs, tighten the pick-up tube to the oil pump bolts tightly to avoid air entry into the oiling system. Upon putting the timing chain cover back in place and sorting it out to fit the engine correctly, fit the oil pan back as well and do the rest in the reverse to how they were removed. Last but not the least, turn and add oil as well as coolant if required, check for any sign of leakage and also the oil pressure.

    Q:
How to remove and install the oil pump assembly on Chevrolet Corvette? Posted by Customer
    A:
An example of such design is a combination of two oil pump housings and two gear sets on the engines of 6.2L (LS3 with RPO Z52 dry sump oiling system), 6.2L (LS9) and 7.0L (LS7) whereas the pressure relief valve is shared. The front gear set adds oil up to the external oil tank and hence is known as the secondary pump while the rear gear set pumps oil directly to the engine hence the primary pump. Start with the removal of the timing chain cover as well as the oil pan as well. Subsequently, unscrew the oil pump pick-up tube mounting nut and the bolt, and as a result the pick-up tube and the screen which will be lowered off the vehicle; in addition, unbolt the other Crankshaft oil deflector bolts together with the deflector. After that, remove the oil pump retaining bolts and slide the pump over the end of the crankshaft. During inspection the oil pump cover is taken off and the rotors pulled out of the pump body, then clean the individual parts with solvent and examine the parts closely, including the bolt holes and splined surfaces of the crankshaft sprocket and observe for visible signs of damage. Any component of this assembly which may have been scored, scratched or worn, will require replacement of the complete oil pump assembly as there were no serviceable subassemblies available at the time of updating this publication. For installation, one must first start running in the pump by pouring fresh engine oil into the pick-up tube hole and while manually operating the pump. Place the oil pump over the extreme end of the crankshaft such that the teeth in the crankshaft sprocket engage on the oil pump drive gear and that of the pump rests on the block. Bolt the oil pump mounting back then tighten to the recommended torque. A new O-ring should be fitted to the pick-up tube of the oil pump, screw this to the oil pump and to the engine block main studs tighten the pick-up tube to oil pump bolts, sufficiently so that no air can get in to the oiling system. The oil pan is then secured back followed by all the other components such as the wheels as installation is done in reverse order of removal in Addition the oil is added before turning the engine on and also the coolant to check for oil and coolant leakage besides checking the oil pressure.

    Q:
How do you remove and install the timing chain cover and oil pump assembly in V8 engine on Chevrolet Trailblazer? Posted by Customer
    A:
To deduce the timing chain cover one needs to unscrew the oil pump pick-up tube mounting nuts and bolts, then lower the pick-up tube and screen assembly off the vehicle, be careful to also remove the bolt that secures the oil pick-up tube to the pump. Next turn off the oil pump retaining bolts and then take off the pump from the end of the crankshaft. During disassembly, remove the oil pump cover and then pull out the rotors out of the pump body; clean the parts with solvent then air dry the parts as the time check its condition using signs such as whether the bolt holes have been screwed and the splined area on the crankshaft sprocket. Any of the above mentioned areas if damaged should be replaced with new oil pump complete assembly since no replaceable parts are available. For installation, pour a small quantity of clean motor oil into the pick-up tube hole while rotating the pump with your hand and then place the oil pump over the end of the crankshaft in a manner that the teeth of the crankshaft sprocket will engage those of the oil pump drive gear and finally ensuring that the pump is directly in contact with the block. Screw in the oil pump mounting bolts and tighten up to the recommended torque; on the oil pick up tube, there should be a new O-ring installed and tightened to both the oil pump and the engine block main studs, with considerable tightening on the pick up tube to oil pump bolts to ensure that there is no entrance of air into the oiling system. Last is the timing chain cover fitting and positioning, followed by re-fitting of the oil pan and the rest as a reversal of the process. Check the level of the oil and anti-freeze and fill them up if required, en-gage the engine and check for oil and anti-freeze leaks also, check the oil pressure.
