    Q:
How to remove the Flywheel in a Chevrolet Blazer,S10,GMC Jimmy and Sonoma? Posted by Customer
    A:
Take off the transmission. If yours is a manual vehicle, you will have to remove the clutch and pressure plates as well. Stick a large screwdriver into the starter ring gear or drive plate hole to stop the crankshaft from rotating, then unscrew the mounting bolts. As the mounting bolts are loosened or tightened, use a big screwdriver to keep the drive plate from moving. Support the flywheel while it's last bolt is removed since it's quite heavy. The flywheel/drive plate needs to be pulled straight back so as to disconnect it from the crankshaft. Some models may have a shim between the drive plate and crankshaft and while automatic transmission models are fitted with fasteners between bolts and drive plate. When your vehicles are built with manual transmission, examine your guiding bushing and replace if necessary . It should be performed in reverse order of removal. Remember that if used, align the hole in the flywheel/drive plate with dowel pin in crankshaft. Apply non-hardening thread-locking compound on bolt threads and tighten them.

    Q:
How to remove and install a Chevrolet C1500 and K1500's transmission? Posted by Customer
    A:
Take out the transmission. The manual transmission of your car will also need the clutch and pressure plate to be removed. Penetrate through the driveplate (for vehicles with automatic transmission) or into ring gear of starter (for manual transmission vehicles). This way, you will lock the crankshaft and then remove the bolts that hold it in place. During loosening/tightening of these bolts, hold onto the crankshaft to keep it from turning. Since this is quite heavy, let it rest on another part as you remove the last bolt. Pull back directly on the flywheel/driveplate until it comes off from the crankshaft. Installation is similar to removal. The driveplate should be installed with torque converter pads facing towards the transmission. Ensure that you have aligned hole in flywheel/driveplate with either dowel pin or untapped hole in crankshaft. Use thread locking compound on bolt threads and tighten them to specified torque in a criss-cross pattern.
