Bumpers on truck models are chrome-plated steel, featuring black or color-matched plastic trim or a plastic one-piece fascia. To remove the front bumper, support it with a floor jack and disconnect the electrical connectors at the fog lights if equipped. Next, remove the radiator grille and the fasteners securing the fender liners to the front bumper. With assistance, take out the bolts or nuts retaining the bumper to the frame, ensuring to remove the bolts from both ends of the bumper support bracket. Disconnect any wiring harnesses or components that may obstruct the bumper removal and detach the bumper, with installation being the reverse of removal. For the rear bumper, also support it with a floor jack and disconnect the electrical connectors for the license plate lights along with any other wiring harnesses or components that could hinder the removal. With help, remove the bolts, nuts, and stud plates retaining the bumper to the frame, ensuring to pull the bumper straight back on models with a locking access hole for the spare-tire-lowering handle until the plastic tube clears the metal tube. Installation follows the reverse process of removal.
