To remove the air conditioning system, start by discharging the system. Then, remove the air filter housing and inlet duct. Next, take out the radiator support mounting bolts and remove the radiator support. Separate the evaporator line from the condenser and cap it to prevent contamination. Raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Loosen the compressor line-to-condenser fitting and separate the lines on 5.7L engines, or remove the compressor line-to-condenser bolt on other engines. Cap the lines to prevent contamination. Remove the radiator air baffle fasteners, lower fasteners, and the baffle. Lift the condenser up along the radiator until the tabs are free from the slots, and then remove the condenser. If reusing the same condenser, store it with the line fittings facing up. For some 2005 and later models, there may be a replaceable desiccant bag inside the condenser that can be accessed by removing a threaded plug at the bottom right corner. To install a new condenser, pour two ounces of refrigerant oil into it before installation. Coat new O-rings with refrigerant oil and install them in the refrigerant line fittings. Tighten the condenser inlet and outlet nuts to the specified torque. Finally, reverse the removal steps for installation and have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak tested.
