Windshield wiper and blade assembly must be checked on a regular basis for the signs of damage, such as worn out parts, a losable wiper arm or frame, and cracks or wear on the blade elements. Road film can accumulate on the wiper blades and reduce their performance and therefore the blades should be washed frequently especially using a solution of mild detergent. If, for instance, the wiper blade elements are either cracked, worn or even warped or cannot clean sufficiently anymore, then they have to be regenerated through new wiper blade elements. Secure the new wiper to the arm ensuring it locks into place by producing a clicking sound, with further securing done by pressing the release tab downwards.
