    Q:
How to remove and install the standard front speaker on a Cadillac ElDorado and Fleetwood? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove and install the standard front speaker on a 1990-93 Deville and Fleetwood, start by disconnecting the negative battery cable. After that, take off the screws from the defroster grille as well as A/C outlets. Next, take out the instrument panel upper trim pad and disconnect the aspirator tube and wiring connector from in-vehicle temperature sensor. Remove all mounting screws from speaker flange and pull out speaker assembly. Do not forget to disconnect wiring connector and remove speaker. The installation is the reverse of removal. For standard front door speakers, first disconnect negative battery cable and then remove door panel. Remove speaker-to-housing retaining screws plus detach speaker wiring connector. Reverse removal procedure to install. For 1990-91 Eldorado and Seville, first disconnect negative battery cable then remove door panel. Remove speaker mounting screws then detach wire connector. To remove speaker reverse this process. Delco/Bose front door speakers should be disconnected from the rest system after removing negative battery cable followed by opening of door panels for access purposes.Remove four screws holding the clamp bracket for electrical wires then pull down this bracket so as to make it loose and detached from speakers.Carefully lift carpet up and locate screw heads fastening enclosure cover at rear end of trunk area. These speakers are removed by unscrewing their bindings after taking away all nuts made of plastic having been used for hanging them in place.Slide in behind them take seat with it being disassembled then literally tearing speaker fabric out before putting everything back together again.Actually they can be lifted straight out of brackets which are fixed into sides of doors or alternatively some models do require removal whole unit being clipped onto side panels.Because there is no way you would have any room under dash without somehow passing wires underneath objects such as fuses, relay switches, etc.Check thoroughly around floorboard adjacent fuse panel for possible short circuits caused due occurrence water damage around these areas just above carpets.Following a similar logic, in case of any open spaces or gaps along the door frame at bottom edge, seal them up completely and make sure that they are airtight to avoid water entry.Installation process is reverse.
