    Q:
How to remove and install a radiator in Buick Century and Regal? Posted by Customer
    A:
Drain the radiator and disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses for both 1975-76 and 1977-87 models. Disconnect the transmission fluid cooler lines, if equipped, and the coolant recovery hose. For 1975-76 models, remove the fan shroud-to-radiator screws, lift the shrouds out of the clips and hang the shroud over the fan. Remove the radiator upper mounting panel and the radiator. For 1977-87 models, remove the fan and clutch retainer nuts, the fan assembly, the fan shroud's upper and lower retaining screws, and the radiator hose clamps. If so equipped, disconnect the automatic transmission cooler lines. On 1978 and later models, remove the fan blade and the fan clutch. Remove the fan housing attaching screws and lift out the shroud. On models which have the fan shroud stapled together, remove the staples, then remove the upper shroud half. During assembly, the shroud halves must be drilled and bolted together. Some air conditioned models have a high-pressure A/C line which runs across the top of the upper radiator shroud. It is not necessary to remove the line in order to remove the shroud. If the A/C line is clamped to the shroud, disconnect the clamp. Carefully slide the upper shroud half out from under the A/C line, toward the passenger side of the vehicle (fan removed). Remove the radiator. Reverse the removal procedure to install. Make sure to fill the system with coolant, operate the engine until hot, refill the system, and then cap it off, running the engine for a few more minutes to check for leaks.

    Q:
How should the radiator be handled during removal to avoid damage for the 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass? Posted by Customer
    A:
Care should be taken not to scratch the body paint or drip coolant. Any coolant on the paint should be washed away to prevent harm to the finish.
