For manual transaxle mounts, lift the car and support the engine and transaxle, unbolt the forward torque reaction strut bolt and at the same time the front and rear mounts can be unbolted at the same time so that you can install a new set of mounts and tighten the bolts to the right torque. And for the engine torque reaction strut: both the strut bolts are to be removed, the front strut bolt is then to be slackly screwed onto the bushing, the engine is then moved back to fit the rear strut bolt and then both bolts are to be tightened to specification.

If the rubber separates from the metal plate or if the case moves up but not down, replacement is necessary. Additionally, if there is movement between the metal plate and its attachment point, you should tighten the bolts or nuts.

For the rear mount replacement, raise the engine to relieve weight. Remove the bolts attaching the crossmember to the mount, and then take out the mount-to-transmission bolts before removing the engine mount. Finally, install the new mount on the transmission, aligning and starting the crossmember-to-mount bolts while lowering the transmission onto the mount, and torque-tighten the bolts.

To check the transaxle mounts, raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Then, observe the mount while an assistant manipulates the transaxle or use a pry bar to test for movement. If the rubber separates from the metal plate or if the case only moves up, replacement is necessary.
