    How do I remove the Steering Knuckle? Posted by Customer

    To remove the hub and bearing assembly, start by loosening lug nuts of the wheel and raising the front side of car on jack stands. Get rid of the wheel as well as disconnect ABS wheels speed sensor electrical connector from it's bracket. Also detach if equipped-ABS wire harness from control arm. Remove driveaxle/hub nut then brake caliper, caliper mounting bracket and brake disc off the hub. Next, remove hub and bearing assembly .Detach tie-rod end from steering knuckle and mark strut to steering knuckle before removing strut-to-steering knuckle bolts. Whereas keeping a rope or wire tied to it; separate the strut from steering knuckle. Remove cotter pin on ball stud at balljoint after which loosen castle nut. Make use of a ball joint separator tool to be able to take out balljoint out of steering knuckle last but not least pull off steering knuckle Too install, guide the knucle into strut mounting flange slot and do insert mount fasteners without tightening them yet. Guide the drive axel in position plus install hub & bearing assembly by leaving mount fasteners finger tight Attach ballstud onto steering knuckle then tighten castle nut according to torque specifications properly; finally fit new cotter pin for installation Attach tie-rods onto steering knuckle or proper torque specs should be applied in tightening tie-rod nut Aligning steering knuckles by means of marks at strut flange then tighten nuts according to right torque specification Tighten hub & bearing assembly mounting bolts as per specified torque Install electrical connector on ABS wheel speed sensor when available Put brake disc on top of hub and thereafter put caliper mounting bracket plus a caliper Fit driveaxle/hub nut tightly for this is known its specified recommended level Install all wheels including their lug nuts, lower vehicle completely then tighten lug nuts based on their given operating specifications Finally have front alignment checked and adjusted where necessary.

    Loosen the driveaxle/hub nut and wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, remove the wheel and front hub, detach the tie-rod end and control arm, separate the yoke and knuckle from the strut, drive the kingpin bushing studs inward.

    To detach the tie-rod end from the steering knuckle, mark the strut to the steering knuckle before removing the strut-to-steering knuckle bolts. Separate the strut from the steering knuckle and suspend it with a cord or wire. Remove the cotter pin from the ball stud on the balljoint and loosen the castle nut. Use a balljoint separator tool to detach the balljoint from the steering knuckle and finally remove the steering knuckle.
