How to Remove and Install Column Cover and Steering Column on Buick Enclave,Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia? Posted by Customer
    A:
To detach the column cover, first unplug the cable from the car's negative battery terminal. Next, remove fasteners located at the bottom of lower cover and then gradually and carefully lift upper cover upwards till it releases itself by clips off from lower one. Then dismantle the small trim around the ignition lock and finally remove covers. To install column cover follow all steps just in reverse order of how they were removed. Also for removing housing cover start with taking out steering wheel as well as steering column multi-function switches. After that move knee bolster then remove fasteners securing housing cover too. Subsequently, take away ignition switch housing lastly followed by removing housing cover itself. Just redo removal process if you want to install housing cover again.

    Q:
How do you remove the steering column for Buick Enclave,Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the steering column, begin by parking the vehicle with the wheels pointing straight and locking the steering in place. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the steering wheel, under-dash panel, knee bolster, column covers, instrument cluster bezel, and steering column housing cover. Disconnect all electrical connectors from the steering column components and remove the lower steering column brace bolts and bracket if necessary. Remove the intermediate steering shaft upper pinch bolt and disconnect the shaft from the steering column. Finally, remove the steering column mounting fasteners and remove the column from under the instrument panel. To install the steering column, position it in the vehicle and tighten the steering column nuts and bolts. Push the steering column flush against the instrument panel carrier and hand-tighten the fasteners. Connect the intermediate shaft to the steering column, install a new pinch bolt, and tighten it to the specified torque. Check that the shaft seal is seated correctly and make any necessary adjustments. If there is a support bracket, reinstall it. If the vehicle has a telescopic/tilt steering column, calibration of the steering module may be necessary. The remaining steps for installation are the reverse of the removal process.
