Q:
How to remove and install ignition coils for Cadillac CTS? Posted by Customer
A:
Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. V6 engines Note: To access the ignition coils on the Bank 1 side, the intake manifold must be removed.Remove the engine covers, then disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil ( Ignition coil electrical connector and mounting fastener). Note: On 3.0L and 3.6L engines, remove EVAP solenoid to access rear two ignition coils on Bank 2 side.Remove ignition coil's mounting fastener.Coil is tightly held and pulled off spark plug by hand.Reinstallation is straightforward as it is just a mirror image of removal. VB engines Note: The ignition coils can be removed individually or as an assembly.Remove engine covers for both front and rear of engine. The ignition coils may be removed from each cylinder bank as a complete assembly or removed from the mounting bracket individually. If removing the complete assembly, disconnect the ignition coil main electrical connector. Disconnect spark plug wires from spark plugs; remove nuts/bolts of ignition coil bracket mounting and remove assembly out of vehicle engine compartment. When only one coil is being tapped off, break down connection of its spark wire with that particular wire among other wires in this system… Remove screws holding such an assembly together and pull out just this part (ignition coil) away from where it was previously kept for more than one day without any interruption whatsoever because otherwise its relocation will not work properly when you come back here next time round since it requires some time period within which it has been separated from its neighbors before moving back into their midst respective houses again so that eventual return home can be completed successfully without delays caused by poor organization skills among homeowners who lack enough money to invest heavily on their homes every year while simultaneously paying monthly mortgage payments due upon purchase agreement signed between them and their financiers who happen to be either banks or private lenders depending on which country they come from.Installation is the reverse of removal.
