Slack the wheel nuts, lift the car using a jack and properly place jack stands before removing the wheel. Next pull the tie-rod end out and then unscrew the jam nut. To remove the boot clamp twist the boot clamp with your pliers from where the inner clamp has been cut off with your diagonal cutters and push the boot off. Before the new boot can be fitted on the tie-rod, the threads as well as the serration on one end of the tie-rod needs to be protected with a layer of tape, to avoid harming the small end piece of the new boot. Insert a new boot into the position at the Rack and Pinion Boot so that it fits into the groove of the tie-rod, and then the clamps must be placed. Once the tape is disengaged, one is supposed to fix the tie-rod end and the wheel together with lugs and nuts. Last of all, bring the car down and snug the lug nuts to the required tightness.

Mark the steering gear housing with the position of the small breather tube.
