How to Remove and Install a Ball Joint Using a Pickle Fork or Puller on Saturn Vue?

To remove a pickle fork, start by loosening the wheel lug nuts and raising the vehicle on jack stands. Remove the wheel and then remove the cotter pin from the ball joint stud. Loosen the nut a few turns but don't remove it yet. Use a pickle fork-type ball joint wedge to separate the ball joint from the steering knuckle. Remove the ball joint stud nut. Remove the control arm and drill out the ball joint rivets and use a 5/16-inch starter hole and a 31/64-inch drill bit. Reverse the removal steps, tightening the ball joint to knuckle nuts and control arm bolts to the torque specifications. Install the wheel, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts.
