Saturn LS1 Heater Core

The Heater Core on Saturn LS1 vehicles has the main functionality of warming up the cabin by tapping into the engine heat. Looking like a miniature radiator, the core is again cooled by water and antifreeze; the heated coolant from the engine circulates through the core in order to warm the inside of the car. Other workings or controls include valves or doors that help in controlling the flow of coolant inside the core to meet the needed temperature control. Furthermore, in vehicles with climate control, the heater core also plays a role of dehumidifying actuatively by reheating the air that has been cooled. Damage in the heater core has the likelihood of clogging, leaking, and corrosion which may sometimes require a complex and expensive dashboard removal process.

Each OEM Saturn LS1 Heater Core we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Saturn LS1 Heater Core Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove the heater core?
A: To remove the heater core, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, drain the cooling system and disconnect the outlet heater hose at the thermostat housing or the heater core pump, depending on the engine type. Make sure to drain any excess coolant from the heater core into an approved container. Next, disconnect the heater hoses from the heater housing inlet and outlet pipes at the firewall. Inside the passenger compartment, remove the right console extension. After that, remove the heater pipe clamps from the couplers at the heater core and remove the pipes, placing rags underneath to catch any spilled coolant. Finally, remove the heater core retaining strap mounting screw and pull the heater core out of the housing. To install the new heater core, simply reverse the removal steps, making sure to reconnect the heater core inlet and outlet hoses at the firewall. Don't forget to refill the cooling system and reconnect the battery.
