Saturn LS1 Air Filter Box Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove the Air Filter Box on Saturn LS and LS1?
A: To remove the air intake duct on four-cylinder models, start by turning the ignition key to OFF. Then, disconnect the electrical connector from the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor and the PCV hose from the duct. Loosen the hose clamp screws at both ends of the duct and remove it. For the air filter box, remove the air intake duct and the mounting bolt from the back side of the box. Detach the wiring harness from the clip and work the box locator pin out of its mounting bracket grommet. The procedure for V6 models is similar but also involves disconnecting the electrical connector from the Mass Air Flow/Intake Air Temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor and removing the duct and sensor as a single assembly. Finally, to remove the fresh air inlet duct and resonator assembly, remove the bumper cover and beam, the right headlight assembly, and the resonator mounting bolt. Pull off the resonator and then carefully work the inlet duct out of the vehicle. The installation is the reverse of removal.
