Saturn LS Steering Wheel Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove the steering wheel on Saturn LS?
A: To remove the steering wheel, begin by parking the wheels straight ahead and disconnecting the negative battery terminal. Then disable the airbag system and remove the steering column covers. In order to release the airbag module: Insert a flat-bladed screwdriver into slots on the backside of the steering wheel and spread retaining springs; then turn the screwdriver to release the air bag retaining posts. Disconnect its electrical connectors, lift it away from steering wheel and remove it. Next, mark down where steering wheel is related to shaft, take off your steering wheel nut, then use your puller for pulling out safely and carefully not threading inside your bolts too far. Disconnect any remaining electrical connectors. To install a clock spring make sure you have it centered with arrow pointing up; if you turned steering shaft follow steps how to properly center it. The installation includes aligning marks on a shaft and steering wheel hub, tightening a new nut of a wheel rotating on a specified torque value, reinstalling an airbag module and enabling an airbag system.
