Q: How to remove and install a front and rear bumper on a Saturn LS and LS1?
A: Apply the parking brakes, lift the vehicle and secure it with jackstands. For the front bumper, remove pin retainers on inner fender splash shield at bumper cover. To release the pin retainer, lift up on the center section using a panel tool or screwdriver then pry the retainer out. Remove pin retainers from lower section of bumper cover and radiator support structure while working beneath the bumper. Take off pin retainers from upper section of bumper cover. Unplug fog lamp electrical connector. Lift off the bumper cover from fender. Some models have pin retainers, others have locking tabs that hold down the bumper cover onto the fender. Take off energy absorber from front bumper and put aside. Remove bumper mounting nuts or bolts (maybe more for your specific model). The front bumper is now free! Installation is reverse of removal, tighten nuts to specified torque specs. Open liftgate for rear bumpers On wagons, remove pin retainers on top of the bumper cover next to tail light bulbs Pull out pin retainers from rear bumper extension Remove splash shield from inner fender Completely separate splash shield forward of rear wheel houses Remove rear bumper cover mounting screws from quarter panel Disengage rear bumper cover locking tabs from quarter panel Take out energy absorber once again Lower car and remove jack stands Installation is reverse of removal.
