Pontiac Grand Prix Blower Motor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you disconnect the blower motor for Pontiac Grand Prix?
A: To disconnect the blower motor, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Make sure to turn off the lockout feature on models with the Theftlock audio system. Then, remove the panel below the glove compartment in the passenger compartment. Pull down the carpet if needed to access the blower motor. Disconnect the wires from the blower motor by detaching the electrical connector and removing the mounting screws. Next, remove the convenience center rear screws and loosen the front screw to slide out the convenience center (only for 1996 and earlier models). Remove the blower motor mounting bolts and separate the motor/fan assembly from the housing. If there is a retaining nut, remove it and slide the blower fan off the motor shaft. If the fan is pressed onto the shaft, it can be removed by cutting through the plastic shaft sleeve or by pressing it off. Finally, to reinstall, follow the reverse of the removal procedure.
