Pontiac Firebird Radiator fan

The Radiator Fan it is used in Pontiac Firebird to help in controlling the heat produced in the car, especially if the vehicle is idle or moving slowly. It helps control the flow of air through the radiator which in turn cools the water that has been incorporated in the engine. Radiator fans have been applied in the mechanical as well as electric manner in the Pontiac Firebird models. Mechanical fans are generally employed on the water pump shaft and connect by means of a thermal coupling thereby lowering rotative speed noise and fuel usage. On the other hand electric fans are operated by a 12V motor, starts depending on the coolant temperature and the air conditioning requirement and usually its mounted in a shroud in order to draw air through the radiator. Now and then, there has been some change in the Radiator Fan of the Pontiac Firebird and current designs for these models are electric fans because of their efficiency and speed. The main distinction lies in the operation method: mechanical fans work on the engine or any source of mechanical energy while the electric fans are electronically operated which provide better conditions in controlling temperatures.
