Oldsmobile Omega Oxygen Sensor

The Oxygen Sensor in Oldsmobile Omega cars help in measuring the air-fuel combinations of the engine exhaust to improve efficiency and minimize emission. Depending on the quantity of unburned O2 it gets and by comparing this ratio to the O2 that is in the atmosphere, the sensor produces a voltage signal for the engine control computer to determine if the mixture is rich or lean. Such feedback assists the computer in the tweaking of the fuel injector pulse width in such a way to optimize the catalytic converter and at the same time, minimizing on emission of exhaust gases. Oldsmobile Omega cars generally have a minimum of 2 oxygen sensors; the pre cat and post cat oxygen sensors, though only the latter mainly provides feedback. It is important to note that old technology of sensors is a zirconium dioxide whereas new generation cars can have air/ fuel ratio sensors for range measurements. Another issue that has been noted is that contaminants and age of the sensor have a way of affecting the efficiency of the sensor and therefore increasing emission and also decreasing fuel efficiency hence the need for regular maintenance check on the vehicle.

Each OEM Oldsmobile Omega Oxygen Sensor we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Oldsmobile Omega Oxygen Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and replace the oxygen sensor in a Buick Skylark,Oldsmobile Omega and Pontiac Phoenix?
A: In L4 engines, the oxygen sensor is a screw-in one located at the exhaust manifold and in V6 engines, it is on the exhaust pipe. For this reason, it is harder to unscrew the sensor when the engine is cold and it would be better if you did it while the engine is operating. In that case, jack up the front of the vehicle and rest it on jack stands to create enough room for your work. On L4 models, extract air cleaner. Oxygen sensor electrical connector should be removed by detaching its terminals. Apply a penetrating oil to the threads of the oxygen sensor during installation ensuring that it penetrates for approximately 5 minutes. Unscrew and remove carefully. Be careful not to damage threads in exhaust manifold/pipe while removing it. Before installing new sensor, coat its threads thoroughly with an anti-seize compound then install it properly. Torque carefully to 30 ft-lb (4.1 m-kg). Reconnect electrical connector to sensor itself as before mentioned. After replacing oxygen sensor reinstall air cleaner on L4 models and lower car on V6models to ground level. When replacing an oxygen sensor, always reset 'sensor' light on dash board panel.
