Oldsmobile Omega Hood Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the hood latch cable assembly on Oldsmobile Omega?
A: The Hood Latch cable is a one-piece assembly that includes the pull handle, control cable, and housing. To remove it, raise the hood and disengage the cable from the primary hood latch assembly, taking precautions to prevent the hood from closing and locking while the cable is disconnected. Unclip the cable from the body and remove the left shroud side trim panel located to the left of the driver's seat. Disengage the control assembly housing from the cable handle cut-out in the trim panel and remove the cable assembly from the panel, then withdraw the cable through the firewall. Installation follows the reverse of the removal procedure, ensuring that the sealing grommet attached to the dash panel is in place during installation.
