Q: How to remove and install a starter in a Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain?
A: Detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. On 2.4L engine models, remove the power brake booster pump fasteners and secure the pump out of the way. If you're working on 3.0L and 3.6L models, remove the front catalytic converter. Disconnect the wiring from the starter. Remove the torque converter cover, then unscrew the starter mounting bolts and remove the starter. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to tighten the starter mounting bolts securely, then reconnect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
