Q: How do I remove and install the hood latch and Hood Cable on Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain?
A: To open the hood, draw a line around the latch and bolt heads to help in aligning when reinstalling. For 2010 and newer models, insert a long handled trim tool or screw driver into the hood latch opening (below the plastic trim panel) and unplug the electrical connector fastener, then go behind under the radiator support and unplug it from there. The mounting bolts securing the hood latch to the radiator support should be removed. Take off the latch. To disconnect the Hood Cable, pull it out of the latch. To install remove is reverse. In work within passenger compartment, free cable from retainer and slide end of out handle (pull cable from retainer then slide end of handle). Disconnect Hood Cable at latch while working in engine compartment. Unclip all cable retaining clips on radiator support and inner fenderwell. Front Bumper cover must be removed on 2010 and later models for access to cable retaining clips. To install remove is reverse.
Q: How often should the hinges and latch assemblies on the doors, hood,Liftgate and trunk be lubricated on Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain?
A: After every 3000 miles or at least once in three months, you should add some light oil or lock lubricant on the hinges and latch assemblies of your doors, hood, trunk or liftgate. To prevent wear and tear and ensure smooth movement, lightly apply grease to the door latch strikers. Use a graphited lubricant spray to grease the locks of car doors as well as trunks (or lift gates).
