GMC Terrain Drive Shaft Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove and install a driveshaft on Chevrolet Equinox,GMC Terrain and Pontiac Torrent?
A: To remove and install a driveshaft on a vehicle, start by raising the vehicle and supporting it securely on jackstands. Place the shift selector lever in Neutral. Use chalk or a scribe to mark the relationship of the driveshaft to the Differential pinion yoke and the flange at the transfer case. Disconnect the rear U-joint of the driveshaft from the rear differential assembly. Then, remove the front constant velocity joint bolts from the transfer case and the mounting bolts from the center support bearing. Finally, remove the driveshaft from the vehicle. To install the driveshaft, reverse the removal steps and make sure the marks made previously are aligned. Tighten the fasteners to the proper torque specifications.
