- Q: How do I check and replace the PCV valve in my Chevrolet Blazer,S10,GMC Jimmy and Sonoma?A: If the engine runs at normal operating temperature, while idling, withdraw the valve (with attached hose) from the rubber grommet on the valve cover. In a V6 engine, PCV valve takes place in a valve cover. Take it out and see if there is any suction and shake it to check for rattles. Put your finger over the tip of the valve. If there is no vacuum at the valve, test a clogged hose, manifold port or valve itself. Replace any plugged or deteriorated hoses. Shut off engine and shake PCV valve; listen for rattle.
