GMC Envoy Starter

The Starter is a complex component of the GMC Envoy that is needed to transform electrical energy from the battery into mechanical energy in an effort to crank the engine. It works by means of an externally mounted solenoid that is connected to the battery to turn the starter motor. In the starter, there is a rotating armature which by acting on the field coils or permanent magnets offers the required torque. The starter drive meshes with the engine fly wheel when the ignition is on, it has an overrunning clutch that releases when the engine starts.
