- Q: How do you remove the shift knob?A: Set the parking brake and chock the wheels. Remove the driver's side floor console extension panel. Disconnect the electrical connector for the harness attached to the shift knob for the tap up/down shifting (if equipped). Move the shift lever towards the rear of the vehicle. Using a small, flat-tipped screwdriver, separate the shift knob trim ring from the knob by carefully prying the trim ring down to expose the retaining screw. Remove the shift knob retaining screw and remove the shift knob. Installation is the reverse of removal.
